Provenance

The thoughtful and Zen-like Winnie-the-Pooh has been a beloved fixture in global culture since first created by author A. A. Milne and illustrator E. H. Shepard in the early 1920s. For inspiration, we looked back to his very first book: 1926’s Winnie-the-Pooh, wherein Christopher Robin, Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo (most of whom were based on Milne’s own son and his stuffed animals) first enchanted the world with their adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood. The book has since been translated into over fifty languages, including a Latin version – Winnie ille Pu – that remains as The New York Times’ only Latin-language bestseller.
